Stages

Having the focus and determination to retrain our minds when it comes to our emotional reactions can be tough. Sometimes we are so conditioned with our emotional reactions that we don’t realize how unhealthy or toxic they are.

Let’s say for example you are trying so very hard to make changes in your life, but when the time comes to make the change, you question it. Or maybe you even try to belittle it. By nature we are fearful of change and we live in a society that praises consistency and similarities. Our societal norms are imprinted into our DNA at a young age. To have the conscious awareness that we have the freedom and power to break free from those norms is not as easily accessible as we think.

We must go through stages to achieve and act on that conscious awareness to break free. I began to notice that I was ready when I was beginning to feel disheartened and unhappy with the circumstances that I was encountering. I was able to realize that I either had to change the circumstances or put up with them. Once I became aware of the changes that needed to be made, I began to feel a different flurry of emotions.

As I navigated this next step, I realized that change does not happen overnight and that it entails patience and observation. I began to observe the aspects that I most desired and I had to find ways to bring those aspects into my life. Some aspects for example were; being surrounded by individuals who uplifted and believed in my goals. I’ve been able to learn how important it is to surround yourself with people who have achieved the goals that you yourself would like to achieve. Having mentors and influential people in your life are so crucial to your growth.

This is the part where patience kicks in. We can begin to create the lists and shed light on what we want to bring into our lives. Yet, we also have to have the realization that the pieces of the puzzle will fall into place in their own time. It has been years since I have realized what kind of life I want to live, and just now am I beginning to fill the spaces with the things I love and value. The time in between just makes everything that much sweeter and worth it.

Take the time today to write down the things that you would like to change for the better in your life. Write down how you would like your life to look. Make it authentic and detailed because you deserve to receive the absolute best possible results. Each day that passes, motivate yourself by reading over that paper. Remind yourself why you want these things.
