Space and Patience
It’s been some time since I sat down to write my thoughts out and contemplate important moments in life. Sometimes we need to step back and allow ourselves to take a break. Call it writer’s block or lack of motivation, I allowed myself to have some time to myself. When you respect that space, it opens you up to an array of possibilities.
What does it mean to leave space for people? We were brought up in a time where differences should be celebrated and encouraged. So why does it feel like there are times when we encounter differences and approach those differences with fear and contempt? The differences that I am speaking of, is what is below the surface. It’s how we think, act and talk.
At first, leaving space for ourselves and for others may seem uncomfortable and maddening. It’s because we are so used to constantly pushing through and needing answers. Sometimes we need to just “be” for those answers and understandings to come to us. The more we push and push, the farther away we are from what we truly desire.
It is normal for us to want something immediately and instantaneously. I myself have been very guilty of that for most of my life, but during the past couple of years I have seen how beautiful the waiting period can be. I’ve learned to allow space for what is yet to come and pay attention to what I need to cultivate to get there. It’s about being grateful for the differences and change. The space allows us to cultivate and grow the aspects of ourselves that are not tangible, but are internal.
It’s about looking at something that is bigger than us, respecting the space and allowing ourselves to have the gratitude and patience for what’s to come. Feel fulfilled by the space between what your heart truly desires and the moments that guide you to your destination.
