A Letter To My Younger Self

Dear Teenage Valerie,

I want to write this letter to let you know how far you’ve come. To give you insight into the battles you will face, but to also remind you of the mountains that you will move. This letter is your reminder that life is precious and everything that you will face is for your greater good. This is for the self-love you lacked and the inner clarity you looked past.

Life will surprise you. It will beat you up, spit you out and help you rise from the ashes. Each moment will be perfectly cultivated to help you understand your purpose and journey in life. All of the aspects of you that you thought were flaws, end up becoming your greatest strengths. The intricate details of your personality, hopes, dreams and desires end up piecing together to formulate the most incredible woman. As the world crushes you from the things you thought you desired, your inner world begins swirling with newfound honor and grace as you walk this new road. Lean in to what makes you uncomfortable and different, because it’s what makes you beautiful. External love will come and go, but there is nothing like the self-love that you will experience. Piece by piece, you will begin to lay the stones of your empire. Each stone will signify a lesson learned and allow you to step forward with an open heart.

It’s never easy, but you persevere and surprise yourself with existential commitment and growth. The more you grow, the easier it is to allow others into your world and extend unconditional love. Be mesmerized by your journey and the awareness of how important this life is. You have the tools to succeed beyond your wildest dreams.

Love & Light,

Valerie
